Sustainability and Lean Manufacturing Practices: The Mediating Role of Manufacturing Performance

Lean manufacturing practices (LMP) is considered a philosophy that can lead to global performance. It gives manufacturers competitive advantage by enhancing their economic, environmental, and social positions. This study aims examine the relationship between LMP sustainability among Malaysia’s organisations. Specifically, it investigates mediating role of performance (MP) on sustainability. Consequently, this integrates both Resource-Based View (RBV) Stakeholder Theory map position possible relationships variables in conceptual framework. applies quantitative method which questionnaire developed through an extensive literature review. The population size for 2368 firms, based Federation Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). In study, unit analysis embodies middle up top management selected firms. survey questionnaires were randomly distributed sample 335 organisations Malaysia, with 30.4 per cent response rate. data obtained analysed using PLS-SEM. results indicated i) positive sustainability, ii) MP, iii) MP iv) Hence, provides better insight into considering economical, social, environmental Additionally, future research also be done empirical if lean formed multidimensionality current had tested unidimensionality.
